A statement from Joel

Hi, I’m Joel.
My mission is to help CEOs achieve their maximum potential.

If you are a chief executive, I understand the exhilarating rewards that come with the job. But I also understand its pressure, its isolation, its uncertainty.

I know this stuff because I have been there. I have had the sleepless nights of the founder scaling fast toward an exit. I know how daunting it feels to try to steer a large, public company.

But I also learned that being CEO doesn’t have to be a constant battle with stress and firefighting. There are underlying models and tools that help any CEO deliver predictable results with far less strain.

It’s just that—for whatever reason—these CEO models and tools have never been codified into a system.

All your executives have a system.

Entrepreneurs have systems like EOS.

With XpertLoop, I want to give that same clarity to any CEO who wants it.

We are a team of experts in how CEOs excel, and how they use the latest tech, including AI, to do so. We believe that great leadership from the CEO improves lives, livelihoods, and economies. It’s why we care about this work.

I hope you will engage with us for whatever your needs are as CEO, whether it’s training, your own private CEO AI, operational support, or simply a sounding board.

Joel Trammell

Cofounder & CEO, XpertLoop. Creator of the Chief Executive Operating System.

Joel Trammell is the cofounder and CEO of XpertLoop and the creator of the Chief Executive Operating System, a comprehensive framework for the CEO role designed to help leaders build organizations that deliver predictable performance. Drawing on more than three decades as a chief executive, Trammell has spent the latter part of his career codifying the practices of effective CEOs and developing the training, tools, and technology to put them into practice. At XpertLoop, that work now includes ChatCEO, an AI operating platform built specifically for chief executives.

Trammell’s approach is grounded in an extensive operating career spanning private, venture-backed, and public companies. In 1999, he and his wife, Cathy Fulton, cofounded NetQoS, a network-performance-management software company. Under his leadership, NetQoS recorded 31 consecutive quarters of double-digit revenue growth and grew to more than 1,000 customers worldwide before being acquired by CA Technologies for $200 million in 2009. The transaction generated more than a 10x return for the company’s investors. He later cofounded CacheIQ, a storage software company acquired by NetApp after delivering a 7x return to investors. Trammell subsequently served as CEO of Black Box Corporation, a publicly traded network-services company then listed on NASDAQ, and is a cofounder and managing partner of Lone Rock Technology Group.

Over the course of that career, Trammell became increasingly focused on a problem he saw across the business world: CEOs are expected to master a uniquely demanding job for which there is little formal preparation. He began translating his experience into a structured discipline for the role, ultimately developing the Chief Executive Operating System. The methodology defines the CEO’s core responsibilities and provides practical frameworks for strategy, organizational alignment, decision-making, goal execution, and performance. Today, hundreds of CEOs use the system, and Trammell regularly teaches it through XpertLoop’s CEO Masterclass and private executive training.

Trammell is the author of The CEO Tightrope: How to Master the Balancing Act of a Successful CEO, The Manager’s Playbook, and The Chief Executive Operating System: The Essential Playbook for Success in the CEO Role. Together, his books address the practical disciplines of leading companies, managing teams, and performing effectively in the chief executive role. His writing on leadership and management has appeared in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Inc., and Fast Company, and he publishes the newsletter Managing the Future.

A longtime member of the Austin technology community, Trammell is an inductee of the Austin Tech Hall of Fame and Chairman Emeritus of the Austin Technology Council. He has served on the boards of public, private, and nonprofit organizations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana Tech University and previously served as an instructor at the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School. He lives in the Austin area with his wife, Cathy, and they have three children.
